Meet Gene Cain and Laurel Bollinger
Gene began her career in real estate when she and her husband Scott Bollinger moved to the Sierra foothills in 1985 and bought their first home on splitable land in Meadow Vista. One land split led to another and another and eventually to a real estate license in 1992. Gene studied for her license when their 3rd child, Laurel Bollinger, was a baby and 28 years later Laurel did the same with her first child! Laurel and Gene learned the backroads of the Sierra foothills together.
Gene and Laurel joined forces in 2019 and are offering you a team approach – 2 for the price of 1! You always get both weighing in and advising to make your sale or purchase attainable. Laurel and Gene love where they live and enjoy sharing all there is to know about the foothill lifestyle with their clients. Gene has been an Outstanding Life Member of the Placer Association of Realtors Masters Club every year since 1994. This represents the top 3% of agents in Placer County. Laurel is well on her way. Her first full year in the business, 2020, she too became a Member of the Masters Club.
Working with Buyers and Sellers in the foothill communities is not just a one-time job. They know they will run into you at the market, in restaurants, at events, on the trails…. They value the relationships formed with their clients and make every effort to treat every interaction they have with respect and professionalism. When they do see you again it is a joyful reunion of friends.
Gene and Laurel look forward to answering your real estate questions and being a source of information you can count on and trust. Let them know how they can help. “Our goal while working with you is to provide you the highest level of service, walking you through every step of the process with integrity and true enjoyment of our work. We want you to walk away feeling that we had your best interest in mind every step of the way”.
More About Laurel
Growing up in Meadow Vista, with the mountains as a backdrop, I truly know what Foothill Living is. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2012 I traveled both domestically and abroad as well as worked as an Administrator and Bookkeeper with 2 different non-profits. Eventually I found myself in the same situation as my mother was almost 30 years ago. In March of 2019 I studied for my real estate license with MY 3-month-old daughter in my arms. You could say real estate is in my blood, first my Grandfather, then my mother, and now me. I learned the trade through osmosis, seeing house after house as a child, and hearing the negotiations play out. Now here I am 20 years later going inside some of those same houses and finding the language of marketing and negotiations to come easily.
I am blessed to have such a master as my mentor and co agent. Often an agent who has worked with my mother will tell me she is the epitome of integrity. This is the key to success in this trade, having an agent you can trust and talk to that will produce results. My mother always tells clients to “Choose an agent you trust and enjoy working with. The last thing I want to happen after we work together is to feel like you want to duck behind an aisle at a grocery store when we run into each other in town”.

More About Gene
I began working in the real estate field when we moved to Placer County and purchased splitable land in 1985. After the successful experience of completing a minor land subdivision I began a business specializing in minor land divisions. During this time I became proficient in the many aspects of developing residential home sites in the local foothill communities and coordinating with the various Placer County agencies. In 1992 I got my license and I began selling residential real estate in addition to the land sales. In 2005 I, along with Eleanor Robinson, opened Foothill Living Real Estate. In 2017 my daughter, Laurel Bollinger, joined me part-time and in 2019 she got her licensed and made real estate her full time career. All of our transactions are shared so that one of us is always available to assist and advise.
I believe that real estate is a personal service business. When you hire a Realtor you are hiring a person, not a company. Whether you are a buyer or seller, you should hire a person you can trust, who listens to your needs and has the knowledge and commitment to produce results. I believe that you should take the time to interview agents before deciding who will best serve you.
I am a fourth generation Californian and have been living in Meadow Vista, Placer County since 1985. My husband Scott and I moved here because of our love for the Sierra Foothills and our desire to raise our 3 children in a rural environment. We have never regretted our choice to pull up our roots and move to the country and have always enjoyed the benefits of having the city of Sacramento nearby.
